Ritu is a leading Indian patent attorney, with a combined research and practical experience of over 18 years. She has a doctoral degree in biotechnology and is one of the most experienced patent attorneys in the country in the areas of biotechnology and biochemistry. Ritu has worked as a scientist and training coordinator in intellectual property rights matters for the Patent Facilitating Centre, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. She has also worked with US based law firm Lexadigm.

 

Ritu’s main areas of expertise are drafting patent specifications, prosecution, oppositions, revocations, providing infringement and invalidity opinions, patent searching and appearing in oral proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office and Appellate Board in respect of appeals and contentious matters. She is also an expert on plant variety protection and geographical indications. In addition, Ritu is head of our foreign filings department, and manages and supervises the filing and prosecution of our domestic clients' patent applications overseas. She also assists senior counsels and lawyers at various High Courts in the country as a scientific advisor for landmark patent infringement matters.
